Grant FAQ

Who is eligible for a grant?

Married couples who are legal residents of United States and are living in the United States, have been diagnosed with infertility, and who require infertility treatments or adoption are eligible for the grant application.

Individuals or couples who elect for treatments or adoption and have not been diagnosed with infertility are not eligible.

Why is there a grant application fee and how much is it?

The grant application fees helps us know who is serious about receiving a grant for the right reason. 100% of grant application fees go towards the grant fund and will be disbursed to selected couples. The application fee is $50 per application.

How are grant recipients selected?

A committee comprised of the Board of Directors, members of our advisory committee, volunteers, and members of the community will review all applications received during the grant application cycle. Each member of the committee has an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about the applicants to the rest of the committee. An anonymous poll is taken to determine who the top candidates are. Based on available funding, the Board of Directors will approve the quantity of grants to be awarded and the amount awarded in each grant.

What does the grant cover?

The grant will typically be applied to the clinic's in-house costs of the medical procedures or costs associated with the adoption process. Due to the complexity of timing and payments to pharmacy's, we currently do not apply the grant towards medications. We also do not cover any third party fees or expenses such as legal fees, consulting/coaching services, etc.
If you have any specific questions about certain costs, please email info@hopeforfertility.org

How much money is awarded in each grant and how many grants are awarded?

The number of grants awarded and the value of each grant is dependent on how much money is raised during the year and will vary based on the type of treatment required. Grants typically range from $250 to $10,000.

How will I be notified if I am selected to receive a grant?

Applicants will be notified by email and/or by letter if they have been selected to receive a grant.

Where will my grant be sent?

To ensure that grant funds are being used appropriately, grants will be sent to the fertility center or adoption agency in your name. For the security of the funds that have been graciously donated by donors, we cannot issue any checks directly to grant recipients or provide reimbursements.

I was not awarded a grant during the last grant cycle, do I need to apply again?

Yes. Applicants must resubmit an application and pay any applicable application fees during each cycle. This is the keep the selection process equal and fair. Please limit applications to one application per cycle.

I was not selected to receive a grant, can you tell me why?

The selection process is difficult and we are not able to award grants to everyone that applies. There are many wonderful applicants that we have not been able to give grants to, but we will not discuss any reasons with applicants on why they did not receive a grant. Please do not ask.

Can I get reimbursed for payments that I made with my credit card or previous bills?

In order for us to ensure that grant funds are being used appropriately, we CANNOT issue reimbursements for payments that you have already made. Payments will be paid directly to a fertility clinic or adoption agency on your behalf.
